Yesterday, the American Civil Rights Project submitted a comment on the Department of Education’s proposal of new priorities for federal education funding.
The ACR Project applauds DoEd’s proposed prioritization of schools teaching students to analyze information dispassionately and apply objective, consistent standards to determine the reliability of sources. Young Americans need to develop the ability to identify when authors have used inaccurate information to manipulate their audience.
On the other hand, the ACR Project holds deep concerns with another proposed prioritization, in part because it so clearly fails to apply objective, consistent standards to sources which appear to have used inaccurate information to manipulate their audiences.
